Rule summary

Rules and how this is calculated

Do not infer Gazette publication from a planned start date. Companies House must process the application; there is no guaranteed application-to-notice interval in this tool.

Send copies of the application to the required members, creditors, employees, pension trustees/managers and non-signing directors within seven days. Later relevant parties must also be notified within seven days of becoming relevant.

The first voluntary Gazette notice runs for at least two calendar months. The calculated boundary is a minimum waiting milestone, not an assured dissolution date; objections or suspension can delay the process. The final Gazette notice confirms dissolution.

Check the last-three-month restrictions on trading, trading-stock disposal, name changes and prohibited activity, and insolvency/creditor arrangements. Deal with assets before applying: remaining assets normally pass to the Crown. Withdraw the application if the company becomes ineligible.

Worked examples

How the result behaves in practice

Known actual notice

Valid voluntary application 20 August 2026; first Gazette notice published 1 September 2026, with no known objection.

Copies deadline 27 August. Two-month waiting boundary 1 November 2026; actual dissolution date remains unknown until the final notice.

No Gazette date

The company is ready but has not received a first voluntary Gazette notice.

Show preparation → application → acceptance/publication → waiting → final notice, without a fabricated 90-day completion date.
